HIDARI Versatile Left-Handed Can Opener

Price: ¥1,530
Price: ¥1,530

The can opener that finally works the way your left hand does.

Most can openers are designed to be pulled toward the right hand. This one pulls toward the left — the blade is reversed, so left-handed users can cut through a can lid the same way a right-handed person always has: with their dominant hand, moving naturally backward as they go. The bottle opener and hole puncher work for both hands.

Winner of TOPAWARDS ASIA 2025

TOPAWARDS ASIA is an invitation-only monthly award recognizing Asia's most outstanding packaging designs. This can opener was selected in recognition of its packaging — a considered presentation for a tool designed from the ground up for left-handed users.

Three tools in one

  • Can opener — reversed blade cuts cleanly as you pull backward with your left hand
  • Bottle opener — removes caps with ease (ambidextrous)
  • Hole puncher — retractable claw for puncturing spray cans before disposal (ambidextrous)

Made by Prince Kogyo, Sanjo — 60+ years of craft

This can opener is manufactured by Prince Kogyo in Sanjo, Niigata — the company that introduced the world's first lever-action can opener and has refined the design for over six decades. The HIDARI version is based on their flagship Alpus model, made in Japan to the same exacting standards.

Designed to live in your kitchen

The matte black finish sits quietly in any kitchen. HIDARI's logo is engraved on the surface. Packaged in a custom HIDARI box — a considered gift for anyone who cooks, camps, or simply deserves a tool built for their hand.

Left-handed, from the start

Every tool in our shop is designed for left-handed use — not a right-handed product turned around. We've been gathering and making them since 2018, from our shop in Gifu, Japan.

Delivered to You from Japan

We've been running a left-handed tools shop in Japan since 2018. The online store grew out of that, and now we send these tools to people in over 90 countries.
