Planner Features
Free Your Left Hand. Free Your Mind.
At Hidari, we've crafted the first planner designed specifically for left-handed writers—not just a mirror image of standard planners but a thoughtful reimagining to suit the natural flow of your hand, your thoughts, and your creativity.
For years, you've had to adapt to tools meant for right-handed users. Now, it's time for the tools to adapt to you. Here's how we've done that:
Why Our Left-Handed Planner Is Different: Date Numbers on the Right
Most planners place the date on the upper-left—exactly where your hand naturally rests. We've moved the date numbers to the top-right, making them visible as you write so you can check the date without smudging or awkward positioning.
The Left-Handed Layout You've Been Waiting For
Traditional planners often keep the schedule on the left side and the notes on the right. We've flipped it. In our "weekly-right" layout, your left hand can jot down notes while your right eye tracks your schedule. It's a smooth, effortless motion that keeps you organized without interruption.
Pages Arranged Left to Right for Natural Navigation
Pages are arranged to advance from left to right, so a left-handed user can turn to the next page naturally with the left thumb.
Ring-Free, 180° Lay-Flat Binding for Smooth Writing
We've taken the time to use a high-quality thread-sewn binding technique—the same used in fine art journals. This allows each spread to open completely flat, without metal rings or bumps interfering with your writing. Just a smooth, uninterrupted canvas for your ideas.
Choose the Planner That Fits Your Routine
Choose the dated edition or the undated planner to match your planning style. Each version uses the same left-handed layout and lay-flat thread-sewn binding.
Left-Handed Planners FAQ
The dated Japanese edition follows Japan’s calendar and lists Japanese national holidays. Days of the week, month names, and week numbers are also shown in English. The dated 2026 edition covers January 2026 through March 2027; an undated version is also available.
HIDARI planners place dates at the upper right, position the weekly calendar on the right with the memo page on the left, and use a page sequence that advances from left to right. A thread-sewn lay-flat binding keeps the writing surface open without metal rings.
HIDARI designs left-hand-specific planners in Japan, including dated and undated editions. Rather than making broad brand comparisons, we recommend checking the page layout, binding, size, and available dates to find the planner that suits you.
The layout keeps dates and the weekly calendar easier to see while the left hand is writing. The thread-sewn lay-flat binding also reduces obstruction from the spine or metal rings. Comfort varies by person, so this is a design benefit rather than a medical claim.
A thread-sewn lay-flat binding provides an unobstructed writing surface without metal rings pressing against the hand. HIDARI planners are designed to open flat across each spread.
HIDARI planners are optimized for left-handed use, but anyone can use them. The page layout and direction are designed around the natural movement and viewing position of a left-handed writer.
With a conventional planner, the left hand can cover dates or schedules, and rings or a raised spine can interrupt writing. HIDARI moves dates to the upper right, places the weekly calendar on the right and memo page on the left, and uses a thread-sewn lay-flat binding.
