A left-handed planner, finished in gold.

Most planners are designed without anyone really thinking about which hand will use them.
For left-handed writers, that can mean dates hidden beneath your hand, note pages placed on the less convenient side, and pages that feel awkward to flip through.
HIDARI’s planner rethinks those small details from the perspective of the left hand.
For this limited edition, we’ve added one more special detail: gold-gilded page edges on all three sides.
A special three-side gilt finish
The exposed edges of the planner — top, bottom, and outer edge — are finished with gold foil, a traditional bookbinding technique known as three-side gilding.
Historically used for special books, notebooks, and diaries, this type of finishing requires specialized craftsmanship. The number of workshops in Japan capable of producing it has become increasingly limited.
The gold catches the light beautifully, giving the planner a quietly luxurious character. It also has a practical purpose, helping protect the page edges from dust and fingerprints.
Please note that the printed contents inside are the same as the standard HIDARI Left-Handed Planner 2027.
Dates stay visible while you write

In the yearly, monthly, and weekly calendars, the date numbers are placed in the upper right corner.
This keeps them visible instead of disappearing beneath your left hand as you write.
It sounds like a small detail. But when you use a planner every day, it makes a noticeable difference.
Schedule on the right, notes on the left

We reversed the familiar weekly planner layout.
Your weekly schedule sits on the right-hand page, while the left-hand page is reserved for notes.
For a left-handed writer, this makes it much easier to check your plans and write notes alongside them without your writing hand getting in the way.
Pages open the opposite way
The planner also opens in the opposite direction from most conventional planners.
This means you can use your left thumb to flip naturally through the pages from the beginning of the book, rather than working against the direction of the binding.
It may feel unusual the first time you pick it up. But many longtime users tell us that once they get used to it, a standard planner starts to feel backward.
Thread-sewn binding that lies flat at 180°
A planner is opened and written in many times every day.
That’s why we use durable thread-sewn binding, allowing every spread to lie completely flat at 180°.
There are no rings or bulky bindings to interfere with your hand, and you can write comfortably right up to the inner edge of each page.
Smooth paper for left-handed writing
The planner uses thin, smooth, and durable Seibundo planner paper.
Because left-handed writers tend to push the pen across the page rather than pull it, rough paper can sometimes catch the nib. The smooth surface helps your pen move more comfortably across the page.
It’s also one of the features our longtime users consistently praise.
16 months, from December 2026 to March 2028
The 2027 edition contains 16 months of monthly and weekly pages, from December 2026 through March 2028.
You can start using it before the new year and continue planning all the way through the end of March 2028.
That makes it flexible for people who organize their year around either January or the Japanese fiscal and school year beginning in April.
Five cover colors
A left-handed planner shouldn’t mean having fewer choices.
The Special Edition is available in five cover colors:
- Navy
- Red
- Yellow
- Mint Green
- Beige
The PVC cover is water-resistant and easy to wipe clean, with the title finished in gold foil.
A planner-only option without a cover is also available for anyone who prefers to use their own. Please note that because this planner opens in the opposite direction from conventional planners, not every third-party cover will be compatible.
